SCOPE Fun Run on March 29, 2008 in Houston

clip_image001The third annual SCOPE Fun Run is scheduled for March 29, 2008 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas.

Sprint for Colorectal Oncology Prevention and Education (SCOPE) Fun Run helps raise funds to increase colorectal cancer awareness, prevention and public education efforts at M. D. Anderson.

  • When: Saturday, March 29, 2008 
    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
  • 5K Adult Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m.
  • 1K Kids Walk begins at 9 a.m.
  • Where: M. D. Anderson Mays Clinic Building
    1220 Holcombe Blvd. in the Texas Medical Center

Colorectal cancer survivors will be honored at the race with a hot breakfast, educational information, massage, and a free T-shirt.

Special activities for kids include food, entertainment, games, and prizes as well as a special 1K Fun Run.

Online race registration is available as well as registration on race day beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Dr. Cathy Eng, assistant professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology, said,

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer among men and women as well as the second leading cause of cancer-related death. We want to make the community aware that this is also one of the most preventable cancers and acknowledge our survivors who are living with this disease.
